Father’s Day 2024 falls on June 16 – and it’s coming around the corner fast! If you are organised and already have Father’s Day gifts sorted for your dad, then shout out to you – but for anyone looking for inspiration, you have come to the right place.

London is filled with amazing attractions, events, and things to do – so there is something for all types of father figures.

Stadium Tours

Is your dad football-mad? Does he live and breathe the beautiful game? If so, you can’t go wrong with a stadium tour. The legendary Wembley Stadium offers extra-special tours of the venue, where visitors can explore parts of the interior including the England Home Dressing Room, Player’s Tunnel, Royal Box, Press Conference Room and VIP Club Wembley Tier. Standing in the huge, historical stadium is a breathtaking experience. We also suggest the Emirates Stadium Tour – especially if your dad is an Arsenal fan, or the Chelsea FC Stadium Tour if he is a lover of the blue, gold and red.

River Thames Boat Ride

If hurtling along the Thames at 35 knots is your dad’s idea of a good time, then a ride with Thames Rockets is the perfect gift. The powerful speedboat whizzes you down the river passing iconic landmarks and cruising under bridges – and best of all, there is live entertainment with a hilarious guide!

Don’t stress if your dad is not an adrenaline junkie, he can still experience London from the water with a relaxing Thames River cruise. With panoramic views of the city, he can see the London Eye, St Paul’s Cathedral, Tower Bridge and so much more in effortless comfort.

Historical Attractions

This one is for the history buffs. A visit to the HMS Belfast is something everything should experience, but even more so if your dad has a love for all things historical. Your dad can climb up and down the nine decks, learn about the ship’s incredible history, visit the Engine and Boiler Rooms, explore the Flag Deck, and listen to 950 people recount the stories of their time onboard.

Another great gift for history-loving dads is a ticket to the Churchill War Rooms. Located in the heart of Westminster, the secret rooms and underground tunnels are steeped in history and were the setting for the strategic planning needed to defeat Hitler’s regime during World War I. Your dad can explore the corridors, see the famous Map Room, uncover the secrets and stories of Winston Churchill’s bunker, and so much more.

London Sky-high

The huge, white, domed O2 Arena (formerly the Millennium Dome) hosts London’s top events, from music concerts to NBA games. Your dad can enjoy some amazing 360-degree views of London with Up at The O2; a guided expedition over the arena’s roof via a fabric walkway. If he’s not afraid of heights, walking across the famous landmark will be a Father’s Day to remember!

More sky-high activities for dads who want to see London from the clouds include the famous London Eye and the IFS Cable Car. The London Eye offers 360-degree views of the city from inside a high-tech glass capsule, and at its peak takes visitors 135 metres above ground level. The IFS Cable Car offers the highest observation point over the River Thames, spanning 1km between Greenwich Peninsula and the Royal Docks.

Walking Tours

Tell your dad to find his comfiest shoes and take him for an iconic walking tour around the city of London. There are so many options to choose from depending on what he likes to see and do. For the father who enjoys a pint, there is the London Historical Pub Walking Tour where he can discover famous pubs and learn stories about them, or if he is a foodie, the  Borough Market Food Tour is sure to get his approval.

You can also take him on a Royal London Walking Tour to follow in the footsteps of Britain’s Royals, the Queen London Walking Tour and see famous places connected with the band, or one of the  Hidden Tube Station Tours, where he can go behind the scenes of some of London’s unused train stations. Whatever his interests, there is a walking tour for him.

Iconic London Landmarks

Tower Bridge is one of London’s most recognisable sights – snap a selfie next to it and everyone knows where you are! If your dad loves London history and architecture, the Tower Bridge Exhibition is a fantastic experience. He’ll get to know one of the city’s top landmarks at the Tower Bridge Museum and be able to walk across the high-level walkways and enjoy amazing views of London and the River Thames.

And while you’re at it, why not treat Dad with tickets to The Tower of London to see the Crown Jewels? The formidable castle has been part of London life since the 11th century and holds plenty of history – more than enough for your dad to enjoy on his special day. He can discover the Crown Jewels, explore the interactive Royal Beats Exhibition, and meet the Yeoman Warders who guarded the tower.

Whatever your dad likes, there’s plenty on offer in and around London this June. Show how much he means to you this Father’s Day and go ahead and spoil him!
