Yes, we’ve got a case of post-holiday blues too. But, it’s not all doom and gloom as there’s plenty of fun stuff to do in London in September! From photography exhibitions to hundreds of boats, here are 6 fantastic things to do in the capital before the temperatures cool down for autumn.
Open House London
Led by a community of Londoners, Open House is a unique celebration of London’s housing and architecture across different boroughs. This yearly free event gives curious participants the opportunity to enter a multitude of London buildings that are normally closed to the public. Expect to explore some of the coolest private buildings in the city!

Buckingham Palace
It’s not every day you get to see where Queen Elizabeth II spends a lot of her time. In fact, one of the world’s most famous palaces only opens its golden gates to the public for a short period of time throughout the summer. Full of opulent furnishings and stunning artworks, Buckingham Palace is a royal spectacle like no other. But be warned, you’ll leave wondering why the heck you weren’t born a royal…

The London Podcast Festival
OK, it probably doesn’t get any more millennial than this, but the London Podcast Festival has been a hit since it launched in 2016. Taking place in Kings Place, the festival runs over two weekends and features a fantastic variety of live recordings from some of the biggest names in the podcasting world (as well as plenty of fresh talent and new discoveries to get addicted to).

Totally Thames Festival
Take part in the annual celebration of the River Thames with a vast selection of activities, cultural events and adventures along 42 miles of it. This years Totally Thames Festival will see around 40 beautiful vintage vessels assemble in the central basin of St Katherine Docks for the Classic Boat Festival. Other highlights include Kayak Taster Sessions at Kew Bridge, public art installations by the waterways on The Line, workshops, exhibitions, guided archaeological walks and more!

The Barbican Conservatory
Formerly one of London’s best kept secrets in the City, the Barbican Conservatory is a joy for plant aficionados, hard-core ‘grammers and all-round explorers alike. Home to over 1,500 species of plants (some of which come from areas as diverse as South Africa and Brazil and are considered endangered species in their natural habitat) and three ponds, you’d be forgiven for thinking this stunning venue located in the Barbican Centre looks straight out of a post-apocalyptic film set.
From 10th September, the Conservatory will host a spectacular commission by Indian sculptor Ranjani Shettar. Cloud songs on the horizon will feature a series of large-scale suspended sculptures made from wood, stainless steel, muslin and traditional Indian crafts. All the sculptures are handcrafted and draw inspiration from the complexity of nature.
