Description
Explore Oxford through the eyes of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, and other famous characters from the series on this magical tour! You can follow in the footsteps of J.K. Rowling as she walked film producers around Oxford when they were first creating the films and scouting locations to be used in the movies. You will get to see a statue that J.K. Rowling described as looking like Nearly Headless Nick, and the Turf Tavern Lane, which is similar to Knockturn Alley – the shopping area of Diagon Alley.
This Oxford tour experience provides you with entry to the Bodleian Library, which is the Divinity School film site – the gothic vaulted ceiling room which was used as the Hogwarts infirmary in Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone, as well as where they filmed classroom and dance scenes.
As you pass famous sights and colleges from the outside, your knowledgeable tour guide will provide you with insights into the actors, the producers of the series, J.K. Rowling’s inspirations and input into the filming locations, as well as fun and interesting facts. You will also learn about the modern student life at Oxford and how this compares to the wizards and witches who attended Hogwarts. There are many similarities, and as you guessed, many differences!
And if you are a keen Harry Potter fan, then you will surely enjoy the quiz during the tour! Test your knowledge of the books and films as your guide asks hard-hitting questions. It’s a truly fantastic experience for the whole family to enjoy.
You can book a public tour or a private tour to suit your specific needs.
