Afternoon tea is embedded in British culture and has been since the early 1840s when it was introduced in England by Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford. She would often become hungry around 4pm and while waiting for her typical 8pm dinner, she enjoyed a tray of tea, bread and butter and cake, with her friends. The pause for tea took off and we have never looked back!
